The Asbestos Victims Support Groups’ Forum understands that – following its campaign to get claims processed again – claims for Industrial Injuries Diabalement Benefit which relate to asbestosis and pleural thickening have started to be processed again. This follows a delay of more than eight months since the onset of Covid-19. Two cases in our region have been included among the number processed so far.
It’s still disappointing
We are disappointed that we have been given no further information to let claimants know what to expect and how long they are still likely to wait. And we don’t yet know how compensation payments will be assessed by the Department of Work and Pensions.
